If you’re anything like me you like to keep your electronics in good shape, looking and working like they are brand new. So now that you have a shiny new Kindle or Kindle Touch you are going to need a lot of way to keep it safe but likewise effortlessly accessible. There are a few good choices out there so lets jump right in and find out what are the best Kindle Touch lighted covers and how they stack up versus each other.

First I’ll spill the beans on the three brands of Kindle Touch Lighted Covers I feel are the best. I have put them in the order I rank them and will explain why following this list.

The firstborn thing that comes to my mind when looking for a way to protect any electronic device is “will it make using my device clumsy, obnoxious or in some way uncomfortable?” As an example consider the hundreds of dissimilar ways to protect a smartphone. Some are sleek and graceful while others are like body armor but in regards to as beautiful as a cardboard box. After a year of using an M-Edge cover I still do like it, but at times get tired of it is cumbersome feel while reading.

All three brands do offer good shelter but again the Amazon cover comes out on top. As already mentioned, it surrounds the Kindle so any bump on any side is buffered. The M-Edge also offers all-around protection, but it is less sturdy on the edges. Finally, the Marware cover offers no shelter on the edges so I wouldn’t want that one.

Now of course the key to reading any book is being capable to see it! The Amazon brand wins this race, too. The most recent Kindle Touch cover design with built in light far surpasses all of the competition, including the former Amazon covers. The light is no longer as concealed when not in use, but it is so much more utile when you are using it. Rather than being up and away off in the corner of the Kindle, the Kindle Touch lighted cover has brilliantly positioned the light on a pivoting arm directly in the top and center of the page. This makes for a much more even light all over the Kindle. It is also within the boundaries of the cover so that you may lie on your side on a couch or in bed and still without apparent effort use the light.

M-Edge also offers a light for their covers but it isn’t built-in and adds rather a lot of bulk to the experience. To store the M-Edge light you have to remove it from the cover, fold it up and stuff it in a pocket on the cover. What a pain! The Amazon covers light just folds away with one simple touch, and it even closes mechanically if you close the cover. Marware does not offer a lighted cover.
